Our Freedom is Near: A Passover Story Unit Plan

As our New Year approaches and the Passover draws near, I began to reminisce about my family's first Passover Celebration.

My husband and I had driven about a 145 miles to my mother-in-law's house. We arrived just in time to cook a meal and set the table. We honestly didn't keep it properly that first year, but we tried. And each year since then, we've prepared earlier and better.

Then our children were born and we didn't know how to include them in our Feast Day Celebrations. If you're in the same boat and are not sure of how you should teach your children about the Passover and the miraculous events that the Most High places in Egypt, we created something very special for you.

The Hebrew Homeschooling Network presents Our Freedom is Near: A Passover Unit Plan.

But first let's unpack what Passover is. What is it? Who is it for? Should we keep it even to this day?

What is Passover?

Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread is an appointed Holy Day that can be found in Leviticus 23. These special days mark the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian bondage. The Most High gave us these feasts as a day of remembrance and hope for the freedom that is to come. A day when we will be free of the last and most terrible land of bondage.

The Most High commanded that we remove all leaven from our homes. This symbolizes the desire to cleanse our hearts from sin and be perfect as He is perfect (Matthew 5:48). Passover has a very important meal plan that we must follow. It includes unleavened bread, roasted lamb, and bitter herbs. He also wants us to keep this feast so we remember the past to ensure that future generations understand that our King, the Passover Lamb, is coming soon to restore His kingdom, our freedom, land, and heritage.

The Bible commands us to keep it forever in all our generations and to teach our children the meaning. So we've created a Passover Unit Plan called, Our Freedom is Near: The Passover Story. This blog post will give you an idea of what the Unit Plan entails and a brief story of the Exodus.
